In conjunction with the introduction of their new camera , Blackmagic Design (BMD) has released an update for all BMPCC cameras . The new firmware 7.9 for the Pocket Cinema Camera 4k, 6K and 6K Pro models apparently comes with a secret from the company.
Grant Petty, CEO of BMD has unveiled a secret feature all BMPCC’s seem to have ever had: gyro sensor data.
The update brings a redesigned interface with some major improvements including:
- Support for intensity adjustments in focus assist via sliders
- Support for custom presets and LUTs that will be preserved after software updates from this version.
- Improved lens and autofocus performance
- Support for Blackmagic Design Zoom and Focus demands
Grant Petty, CEO of BMD has revealed a secret feature it seems every BMPCC has always had: gyro sensor data. This feature allows information to be saved as metadata in BRAW files, which can then be stabilized in the new version of Davinci Resolve 18 using its own Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered algorithm .
You can also find a slider to adjust the intensity of the focus assist for compatible lenses. As well as the option to select between recording to SD and SSD via the menu.
Frame guides now have color options, and there are improvements to lens control and autofocus. Also, any future software updates after this one won’t remove your custom presets or LUTs, which is a good thing.
